Postpartum Bliss wants to make the addition of a new baby to your family as smooth as possible. Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, we are here to support you. We support families of all kinds to give you the skills and confidence you need to feel successful.
What is Postpartum Doula Support?
A postpartum doula provides evidenced-based information on things such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother-baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care. Research shows that moms, dads, and babies have an easier time with this transition if a good support team is in place.
What is a Newborn care specialist?
A newborn care specialist provides expertise in all aspects of newborn care, parental education and support. They care for the newborns while providing guidance and education to the parents. The role of a newborn care specialist usually begins after the baby is home. While the parents rest, the newborn care specialist feeds the baby or brings the baby to the mother for nursing; burps, changes, soothes, and puts the baby back to bed.
I combine my experience as a postpartum doula and as a newborn care specialist into one role to provide the best care possible for your family.
You will be provided with supportive or exclusive overnight sleep support, depending on your feeding styles and individual preferences. I will nurture and care for your newborn/s while providing guidance and education to help you learn the ins and outs of your new parenthood journey. My goal is to leave you feeling well-rested as well as confident and have all the knowledge you need to tackle the day ahead of you! This specialized service allows parents to get the much-needed rest you deserve. Your doula will swaddle and gently rock your baby to sleep and handle all wake ups and feedings throughout the night to ensure that your entire family gets a restful night's sleep. Are you planning on breastfeeding your new little one? Don't worry, you can benefit from our support as well! We can help make your nursing or pumping session as smooth as possible to get you back to bed quickly. When your baby wakes up, their diaper will be changed and baby will be brought to you. Or you can ask to be texted or called and meet in the nursery or living room at each wake up. While you are nursing, your water cup will be filled and you will be offered a small snack. While you nurse we can go over any questions or concerns you may have about your newborn as well as some basic breastfeeding information. You will be provided with resources and information to make sure you feel confident and prepared. When baby is finished eating, they will be burped and swaddled and soothed back to sleep while parent goes back to bed. If parent is pumping, your doula will bring you the pump and make sure it is set up properly and when you are done all parts will be cleaned and sterilized so they are ready for the next session. During my time with your family, I will also help you establish healthy sleep patterns for your baby from the very beginning to ensure they are getting the restorative sleep they need for healthy development.
Please keep in mind that overnight services book up fast and it is best to book our services during your second or third trimester of pregnancy. I will always do my best to accommodate your families needs though so please reach out with any requests or questions. Thank you!
